Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan handed over the PM’s decision to University CEO Professor Dang Huu on November 4.

The Griffith University of Australia , Cambridge College and the NPU of the US are major partners of Bac Ha International University.

According to Huu, the university will have foreign and overseas Vietnamese teaching staff.

Almost 200 lecturers, including professors, associate professors and doctors, have been invited to give lectures at the university.

Huu also said the university will cooperate with internationally reputed universities in training and scientific research programmes.

The university plans to enroll about 500 students in electronic-telecommunications, information technology, and business management for its first school year in 2007-08.

It plans to offer architecture and civil engineering, environment, energy, biotechnology, nanotechnology, economics, social and humanitarian sciences, and foreign languages in following years.

Bac Ha Intenational University’s rector is overseas Vietnamese Professor Huynh Huu Tue who used to be a lecturer at the Laval University of Canada.

The construction of the university is underway and expected to be completed by 2012. Students will study at temporary establishments in Bac Ninh province until 2009, when the university’s main buildings will accommodate around 3,000-4,000 students.
